  1. I love historical fiction because as I enjoy the story I’m also learning about a brilliant period of history.

    • Obviously I love the research and learning aspect of it or I wouldn’t do it. But I think I also enjoy the distance that time offers–allowing me to look at issues that are still important today thorough a new lens.

    • I love how Historical Romances takes me away from everyday drama to other worlds and times. As a Historian, I really appreciate how someone can take a piece of history and give it life. With your work, I felt as if I was the unseen visitor in the room. I could envision everything as the story unfolds. I love Sister Queens.

      • I am so glad you love my sisters! I sure do. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on Medicis Daughter

        • If I don’t win, I’ll plan to buy a copy. I did download your book about Pompeii and plan to read it this weekend, Since it’s so chilly in Savannah.

          • I hope to pull winners tomorrow. today I am swamped.

You know A DAY OF FIRE was the first true continuity (a collection of stories that tells a larger story rather than an anthology) in the historical genre. We are very proud of that. Will be interested to hear what you think of it!

  2. I love historical fiction because it allows me to learn about a time period or a historical figure. I usually then have to go read a nonfiction book about the same time period or historical figure to learn as much as I can. 🙂

  3. Historical fiction has always attracted my interest as it transports the reader into a different time and place in order to experience the lives and events of those who came before us. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity to possibly win copies of your books 🙂

  4. Historical fiction has always been a love of mine because it allows me to travel to a time period I otherwise would never get the chance to experience. It gives me a deeper insight into the lives and times of my favorite people in history. Thank you so much for this opportunity to win your books!

    • I enjoy the fact that it takes me there for the excitement without the peril (war, famine, disease). But I also find reading about the past a constant reminder of how what REALLY matters to people hasn’t changed in a thousand years. Some struggle and feeling really are eternal.

  5. Videos are intriguing, love novels about sisters, thanks for a chance.

  6. Love to read fiction with some real history in them….my favorite genre at the moment! This would make a great gift for me, myself, and I!

    • I started reading historical fiction very young. Never thought I would write it though–even though my initial degree is in history. It really is the best job ever, particularly if you find an appreciative audience!

  7. History is what defines who we are today… Historical fiction somehow feels more realistic, more appealing because it gives us an almost otherworldly glimpse into our past.

    • I think historical fiction has the advantage of bringing history alive with thoughts and dialogue–academic historians cannot ethically do that and for good reason.

  8. I love historical fiction because it takes me to a different time. Unlike reading contemporary fiction its able to take me to a world I never thought I’d see. It allows me to read the stories of historical figures that had extrardinary lives and makes me feel as if I were there myself.

  9. I love historical fiction, because it takes me back to a very different and dare I say more interesting time. Plus, it’s fun to see women who kick ass and take names back in a time when women were technically not supposed to have power.

  10. Happy Thursday!!!! My major in college was history, so I love reading/watching about different times in history. I am looking forward to the new Netflix series, Medici, Masters of Florence that releases tomorrow. It looks so good.

  11. I shared Celebrate Christmas with the Valois on my Facebook page.

  12. I love historical fiction because it is a way to time travel. It is fascinating to learn about the different time periods and what those people experienced and had to endure. It is so much better than contemporary fiction because you can escape real life.

  13. So excited for this giveaway! I LOVE Marguerite and cannot wait to read Medici’s Daughter! I shared the Valois christmas video!

  14. I shared A Hot Read for the Cold Weather on my Facebook page.

  15. Would love to win these two books for great in-front-of-the-fire reading.

  16. Looks great! :). What fun books!
